Corrie Gowland

Name:  Corrie Gowland

Hometown: Hood River and Snohomish

Home Beach: The Gorge

Discipline: I foil 90% of the time now but still love a big 4.2 Hucker day at Doug’s or The Wall once in a while or an occasional speed session with a 5.6 Hucker or 6.2 NX and a little slalom board

What’s in your quiver?: I have 4.2M and 4.8M Huckers and a 85L wave board for big swell days. Some little / medium Slalom boards and 5.6MHucker and 6.2M NX sails for a little speed. For foiling, I have some Flyer FRs -5.2M, 6.0M, 7.0M  along with a carload of  SAB foil set ups for people to demo.  So, if you see me on the beach and have a SAB wing you’d like to try- I can probably set you up.

Favorite Sail:  5.2M Flyer FR and 4.2M Hucker

Board/Foil Set up: Roberts Flight GT with a Moses 101 carbon mast – various wings and fuselages.

How did you get into Windsurfing?: When I first met my wife, she always had a windsurfer on top of her car.  She was adamant that I would love it.  At that point I had never seen anybody windsurfing that wasn’t  bobbing around, falling in and uphauling in 5 kts of wind…. and I didn’t have enough time to do all the things I wanted to do already- so I had no interest.  She was persistent.  Now 30+ years later, we are remodeling and slowly moving into a house in Hood River, and I’m windsurfing more than ever!

Favorite trick?: What is it they say about old dog’s and tricks?   I’d like to learn to do a foiling 360 this year

What’s yourpre-ride ritual:  Look outside…is it white capping?  Load the car.  Roll down the hill to the beach….so nice being in Hood River!
